KANNAPOLIS – Mark K. Allen, 54, died Monday, March 23, 2009, at the Bob & Carolyn Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis, after a short illness. He was born Feb. 18, 1955 in Cabarrus County, the son of Sue Driver Allen and the late Wade K. Allen. He was a 1973 graduate of South Rowan High School and attended Wingate University. He was employed as an independent distributor for Pepperidge Farm. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, fishing, and playing in a band. A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at Whitley’s Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, officiated by Chaplain Karen E. Kaser Odor. The family will receive friends after the memorial service. Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife of 26 years, Sharon Hurst Allen; a son, Andrew Thomas Allen of the home; a daughter, Lindsey Marie Allen of the home; and a sister, June Allen Leazer and husband, Eric of China Grove.
