Kellie Barnes Mullis rip may 30 1958 to February 28 2023
“With immense sadness, the family of Kellie (Monté) Barnes Mullis announce her passing. Kellie, 64, of Landis, NC, was unexpectedly called home on February 28, 2023.
Kellie was born on May 30, 1958 in Concord, NC to Nancy Bost Barnes and the late Charles Kenneth (Kenny) Barnes. She was a 1976 graduate of South Rowan High School and a 1979 graduate of UNC Charlotte.
She was a career accountant and spent over two decades at Stocks, Smith, Campbell, & Dendy in Kannapolis, NC before her retirement in October 2021. Outside of work, Kellie was a faithful leader and mentor, championing those around her at First Family Fellowship in Salisbury, NC. She enjoyed spending time with her family and children (especially shopping with them!), finding spots to tastefully display her Charles Schulz’s Peanuts gang, caring for her multitude of plants and flowers, collecting artisan pottery, spending summer nights watching the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers, and offering up a song in the middle of a conversation. Those who knew her best will remember her hearty laughter and words of encouragement.
Forever remembered by her husband of 43 years, Scott Cadell Mullis; son, Jeremy (Kirstin) Mullis of Huntersville; daughter, Whitney (Josh) Owens of Kannapolis; sisters, Karen (Keith) Dudley of Fort Mill, Kandie (Terrell) Lambert of China Grove, and Kendra (Darren) Groppi of Landis; sister-in-law, Beverly Mullis of Jacksonville, FL; brother-in-law, Stan Mullis of San Leon, TX; nieces, Serena (Chris) Heffner of Cleona, PA; Krista (KC) Lawing of Denver, NC; nephews, CJ (Savannah) Mullis of St. Johns, FL, Kevin (Haley) Dudley of Fort Mill, Daniel (Carrie) Groppi of Hendersonville, TN, Nate (Annemarie) Lambert of Concord, and Gabriel & Tanner Groppi of Redding, CA.
