Susan Heglar was always very nice to me. She had
an older brother probably 8 years older than her that was nationally known for being a great guitar player. I will adopt him into our group from 1973 to 1977
because he had lots of fans from our era. I met him once around the year 1998 or 1999 at a converted church/bar/music hall in Mooresville. He was thrilled I knew Susan! He was proud that she was proud of him!
“Steve E. Heglar 1951 to2020
Mr. Steve E. Heglar, age 69 of Mooresville, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2020 unexpectedly at his home. Born November 10, 1951 in Rowan County, Steve was the son of the late Carl Fred Heglar and Thelma Hall Heglar. Steve was a graduate of South Rowan High School Class of 1970 and still maintained very close friendships with some of his classmates. He was an extremely talented and gifted guitarist, who over the years played with many celebrities all over the country. He also had played with numerous bands over his musical career, most recently he was a member and guitarist for the Carolina Sky Band. His talent will be missed in the musical community in which he was a part of for so many years. Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Steve Vaughn Heglar and sister, Susan Nicholson and husband, Eric of Mooresville. He also leaves behind his closest friends from South Rowan and a close-knit group of musicians who were not only friends but his family as well. Due to COVID restrictions, there will be no service at this time but a Gathering of Friends to celebrate his life will be planned at a later date.
