I like Mr Shane’s Cookies! I felt right at home. It was like a wonderland of Cookies! The second I opened the door the aroma of cookies was intoxicating! It is the kind of place that people hold the doors open for each other. The staff was sharp and nice and they were legitimately happy! I got that sense that this is a fine oiled machine and these people have done this before. I watched a 24 foot Ryder truck come to the dock. I had a great conversation with a Desert Storm Vet that liked motorcycles as much as I do. We were both interested in the custom canes that a 93 year old employee makes! The cookies live in an air conditioned warehouse before they are shipped and they don’t sit long. Ten Million cookies come out of this custom warehouse out of the shipping department which has a nice dock with a Moravian star hanging for the season. The boxes and cans are stacked perfectly. Through the front doors customers buy individual orders and can taste test every flavor. The office is to the left as you walk in. To the right is the customer serving area. And to the rear are large windows where you can see the bakers hand making the cookies on ergonomically friendly stations. It takes four months for the cutters to become efficient cutting. A sign on the window welcomes photographers! Over Ten Million cookies a year go out those doors! They also have specialty drinks that are cold. The warehouse is located along beautiful country roads surrounded by farms. I’ll be back!
By the time I was ready to go home I walked out with two kinds of cookies and two chicken pies.
I think by the time I made it to the car I was hearing the song Honey Honey! Sugar Sugar! You are my candy girl and I can’t stop lovin’ you!
