A Dr Dan “Stork” Roddick interview with Ron Kauffman!
Throwing My Life Away
World’s greatest “Catch” phrase! By Stork!
And many were there to Catch it and throw it back
This World needs more Doctors like Dan Roddick known to The Flying Disc elite as Stork. Imagine a World with 50 Rose Bowls in one year in The United States with The Power of Dr Storks’ incredible insight! A Rose Bowl atmosphere in every stadium in every State! When I saw my first Rose Bowl in 1978 I said to myself “I can do that”! Nothing else had made me want to be part of an aura so awesome! I’ll set this Tennis racquet down now. A World where the best Disc players of each country had a show place like the Rose Bowl!
The spin off on people like me was Hi Torque. I’ll ring the bell and beat the drum in every school University and Amusement park. I hope Karma comes around to Dr Dan Stork Roddick. Stork will be sitting on a bench looking for the flat spots and some cool kid out of nowhere says Hey Mister, You want to play Catch?
I landed on tears too Dan. Tom landed on some tears too!
Rick Swyers does a mean Bubble!

“It’s worth noting that the opportunity for this effort was provided by PDGA member Melissa Petruzzello #231898.
Cool backstory. Years ago, as a little girl, Melissa played in one of my Memorial Day doubles tournaments up in the Sierras.
She and her dad loved it and caught the bug that day. They have been playing ever since and now Melissa was in position to
get EB to add this entry of our favorite sport.
Jeff Spring and DGPT photo guru, Kevin Huver were also instrumental in their provision of the great shot of Rebecca from the Chess.com event.
Mary Marasco, a friend also provided the images from The Grove.”

Movie by Dr Dan Roddick with Lin Shackleford, UCLA basketball.
Please give the video above about 35 seconds to stop skipping. The footage is too sentimental to cut.

My first close encounter with Dr Roddick was at the 1979 Rose Bowl. He was carrying a box of discs and getting ready for the show!

The World Needs more Dr Dan Stork Roddicks

There may be a duplicate or two here but some things are worth looking at more than once.

After sitting in his chair while the rest of LA ran into their hyper-bolic chambers the die hard kids finally asked the Dr in the chair if he wanted to play with a Flying Disc. He said “As long as I can bring my whirly Twirly cones to mark of the safe places!” OH BOY LET’S PLAY!

Brian’s Frisbee Collection
Somebody found an early Master on eBay today… it was already gone when I looked at it.
I think I have previously shared my story about my first day at Wham-O related to the Master identification numbers. I guess if there’s enough demand I can tell it again or, someone can simply retell it for me.
Tell it!
Ok… ok… if you insist…
My first day at Wham-O and a secretary was showing me around the offices. She took me into one room that was eventually to become my office. Being the curious guy that I am, I opened a closet door, and it was stacked full of cardboard boxes. The boxes were all overflowing with little cards. I asked her what they were. She said, “Oh, those are the cards from the people who have sent in their registration number for their Master Frisbee in case they are lost.” The idea was that if someone found a Master Frisbee, they could then contact Wham-O or mail in the disc, which could then be reunited with the registered owner. Do remember that at the time the Master was considered as the flagship of the line, owned only by the most keen enthusiasts.
Of course, I knew of that program and had mailed in a few of my own. However, seeing the completely jumbled collection of the cards I asked her how the program actually worked. In particular, I wondered how many reunions had been achieved. As I recall, she said, “Oh, I don’t think that ever happened. There would be no way to find the owner in all those cards. I think we had a couple times that people reported their Master as being lost and we just sent them a new one.”
“Hmmm,” I said, “I guess that works…” And my tour continued.
Daniel Roddick a return policy guaranteed to work. For the benefit to the frisbee family (and incidently the rest of humanity) your stories need to be collected on film. If it is not too much trouble please advise when you have done so.
Mark Ellis Thanks Mark… As I have often said, my autobiography is long overdue… and well before its time.
Daniel Roddick If you would stop throwing your life away maybe you could get started!
Wow, under 10k!
Tom WehrliPlease do Stork.
Snapege. Storkege. Imagine explaining a Frisbee career and then explaining I have two examples of greatness to explain to you. One is a Rocket Scientist and one is a Dr. Both have nicknames. Captain Snap and Stork
